Former Norway Skier Dies After Lightning Strike

Olympic medallist and erstwhile Norway skier Audun Groenvold has died aged 49 aft being struck by lightning.

The Norwegian Ski Federation (NSF) said Groenvold was struck by lightning during a compartment travel and, contempt being taken to hospital, died connected Tuesday night.

Groenvold was portion of Norway's Alpine skiing squad earlier moving into freestyle and skis cross.

He won skis transverse bronze astatine nan 2010 Winter Olympics successful Vancouver.

Following his master skiing career, nan NSF said Groenvold went connected to go a nationalist squad coach and NSF committee member.

They federation said that it had mislaid "an outstanding athlete" and "prominent figure", adding "our thoughts spell retired to Audun's family, friends and everyone who was adjacent to him".
